Fitness is important to me and I have the hugest fitness DVD library anyone has ever seen. Mostly they are filled with Beachbody programs and Zumba dance videos. I love to keep moving and am a YouTube fitness stalker. Most importantly, I have a super short attention span when it comes to working out. One thing I love to do is go on YouTube and watch video’s to pass my time on the Treadmill. My favorite videos are when I stumble upon quick 10 minute workout videos and tossing in them my days where I’m short on time. When I was asked to write an unbiased review on a new Blu-Ray fitness video, I was excited to give it a chance. I’ve done pilates, piyo, turbo, dance and weight lifting but I’ve never tried this program by Erin Buchanan titled “Air bar exercises – volume 1”. It sparked my interest because she doesn’t use the typical resistance bands, or weights… she introduces an ‘air bar’ which is basically a piece of dowel rod that you can find for less than $3 at home depot. Luckily, I had an old workout baton that I was able to use and even though it feels light as a feather the movements are nearly one minute on each move so your muscles actually feel it. I was a little uncomfortable with her moves as they seemed a little awkward and the breathing techniques were definitely not natural although, necessary. There is a lot of motivational, spiritual & vibrational speaking that starts off good but then becomes slightly silly. Short and sweet would have been more relaxing and would have kept my interest. I have to be honest and mention, it was a little cheesy to where I’d stop my work out and have to giggle. I really did try and take it serious but the length of the messages gave me the giggles. There was a few things I would personally try and perfect before it being distributed but the idea of the workout is nice. A mix of HIIT, Yoga, Dance, Martial Arts, Pilates & Cardiovascular movements. The Blu-Ray DVD is about 1hr and 20 minutes long. I did the entire workout with my heartrate monitor on and I burned about 405 calories. Her movements are not hard but they are quick which seemed to get my heart racing and my muscles pumping. I couldn’t recommend this workout to my friends at this point. I feel it needs to be cleaned up a little and is definitely in its infant stages. I feel like Erin has a great idea but needs a little more fine tuning in regards to its production. Erin herself is a doll. Sweet, motivating and her passion for what she does cannot be denied. I’ll put her link below. For my friends in town, if you want to give it a whirl I’ll definitely share. Just let me know.
