There is a huge essential oil craze going on and I was able to dabble with some out of pure desperation. Quite a few weeks ago I was sent this pharmaceutical grade 100% Tea Tree Oil to try and review. This bottle is pretty big and I figured I’d never use it much. It would probably last me all year long. There was also an e-book that came with the product that I skimmed through and it listed everything you could use it for. It could aid in things like bug bites, toe-nail fungus, acne, yeast infections, skin tags, cold sores, dandruff, ringworm, fleas, warts, psoriasis, lice and so many other things. You could use it to make facial masks, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, toothpaste… it went on and on and on… recipes galore!!! To tell you the truth, the little booklet overwhelmed me so I stuck this bottle aside and figured I’d get back to it some day.
Fast forward to a week after I shoved it aside. There was a local art & wine event I was going to be attending with one of my best girl friends on a Wednesday and then Thursday we were to be getting together with family and friends to celebrate a birthday. Since the first event was to be outdoors I wanted to look my best. I decided to get a full face wax. My mother gets these done on a regular basis and she always looks so great. Her face is always so smooth and there was never peach fuzz or makeup gathering on her face. I notice these things on people and figured I’d show up slick as a whistle. The event was going to be in the early evening and I was prepared to look my best. So, I went in for a full face wax on a Sunday night, hoping that by Wednesday my skin would be radiant. Pffffffft, boy was I in for a ride. Immediately after my wax, I had terrible redness all over. It burned, itched, hurt and my pores were the size of the moon! It was uncomfortable and super duper painful. I personally believe that I had some sort of allergic reaction or my pores just were shocked as all heck. Anyway, I came home and immediately iced my face. After icing my face I just called it a night, it was embarrassing!!!! The next morning I wake up and my face was still irritated. Hurting, burning and even zitty…. It didn’t even feel like my own face. The following morning was a Monday and I wasn’t going to let a foolish waxing treatment keep me home from work so I went in and toughed out the day. While I was at work all I could think about was “how can I get this to calm down??? I need some sort of relief”. Then this Tea Tree Oil popped in my mind and I started to google only to find that others were recommending tea tree oil after a full face wax. Yes!!! I have some!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness, that is exactly what I applied to my face when I got home. I didn’t dilute it or anything… straight up, slapped that on my face with a cotton ball and just crossed my fingers.
You want to know what is so wild? It instantly gave me relief! The redness diminished and the healing process began. This picture was from Day 1 (Morning) and Day 2 (Afternoon) and after 2 applications of the Tea Tree Oil. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! I was well on my way to recovery. The redness was gone and now all I was dealing with were tiny little white heads.
Still, I wasn’t happy, there were millions of acne bumps to clear up. My face never ever ever has acne so for me, this was quite embarrassing. Anyway, I had 12 more hours to heal this face of mine before the event. Here I go again, same routine – overnight I slept on my back so my face wouldn’t touch my pillow, I left it open to the air with a face full of tea tree oil. The next morning was manageable with the help of makeup. I was SO pleased with my fast results and healing time with the use of the oil. The picture below is of my and my friend at the event with no filter on the picture. I was SO HAPPY!!!! (Left)
Without the Tea Tree Oil, I truly don’t believe my face would have healed so quickly. I’ve started applying it directly to my daughters acne and have noticed it helping better than any prescription she’s tried. Super happy with its results and it will now become a staple in my household. Who knew!?!? I love this stuff!
